Fat Burners, for you or against you?

With the recent death of Anna Nicole Smith and the lawsuit in regards to Trimspa, I felt it was my obligation to talk about the use of supplements to lose weight. Many people quickly turn to the latest fat burning supplement on the market because let's face it, losing weight is HARD. It really is difficult but the addition of a fat burning supplement can kill you.

I'm not saying that Anna Nicole Smith died because of taking a fat burning supplement. In fact chances are it had nothing to do with that. But the fact that there's a lawsuit out there suing Trimspa should not be overlooked.

Supplement companies for the most part will make claims that you can lose "X" amount of lbs in a short period of time with the use of their product. Now not all supplements are created equal. There are some supplements that make sense to take and will enhance your performance but the 'known' secret to getting in shape is that you must exercise and eat well.

No supplement will override that simple principle. Here are a list of supplements I've found to be effective:

  • Protein Drink/Powder (Good for muscle repair)
  • Fish Oil/Omega 3 capsules(helps strengthen the heart)
  • Green Tea(Filled with antioxidants)
  • Multi-Vitamin (Do I really need to explain this...?)
  • Creatine (helps build muscle mass)
Now no where listed there is a fat burner. Why? Because I really feel it's not necessary to achieve results. Can they help? Sure. But until you really get yourself in a good workout program, eat well, and use the supplements listed above, there's no reason why you should go to fat burners.
